The Source Of Love
God is love. And the greatest expression of what it is. By looking at his example, we can learn its meaning and how to display it in our lives.
Love Is Sacrificing
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son
The love God shows is more than a thought or feeling. And it’s not limited to a specific group of people. Instead, it’s the abundant care and value He places in humanity. The care that compelled him to offer Jesus’ life in exchange for ours.
Abraham And Isaac
After waiting more than 25 years for his son Isaac, Abraham receives a message from the Lord to sacrifice him. Rather than turning away, Abraham wakes up the following morning and travels with his son Isaac to fulfill the Lord’s command.
Abraham was willing to give up his son and promise to the Lord. In exchange, the Lord gave Abraham a ram to sacrifice instead.
True love is more than a feeling. It’s active and sacrificing. The Lord cherished humanity so abundantly that He was willing to give the life of Jesus to restore us.
Abraham’s love for God compelled Him to surrender Isaac and the promise he received decades before. Like Abraham, we must be willing to value our God over everything we have in our lives.
Love Is Relational
That whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
The Lord never intended for anyone to die or experience the hurt and sickness we see daily. Instead, He intended us to live with Him forever and experience His joy, peace, and freedom. This is the gift of eternal life. And it’s given to everyone that believes in Jesus Christ.
Paul’s Relationship With Jesus
While imprisoned for sharing the Gospel, Paul reflects on his life before coming to Christ. He was a high-ranking Pharisee and Roman citizen that persecuted the people He later joined. Despite his past life and accomplishments, Paul considered everything worthless compared to knowing Jesus and receiving eternal life.
We Can Experience Love
Our God wants us to have a loving life with Him. His desire was so great He allowed Jesus to be crucified so we could access eternal life. We can now know and experience true love. The love that began with God’s desire to connect with humanity and our ability to follow Him in return.
