Entering God’s Rest | Enjoying His Love and Peace

Experiencing God’s Rest

God wants us to experience His rest. He desires that we conquer our daily challenges as we grow in our relationship with Him.

And through faith and obedience, we can make this possible.

We Enter Rest Through Faith

Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said, “So I declared on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter my rest.’” And yet his works have been finished since the creation of the world.
Hebrews 4:3

We enter into God’s rest through trusting and believing in Jesus. In Him, we can fulfill His original purpose for our lives while enjoying the peace and freedom that comes with it.

God Tested Israel In The Wilderness

After leading Israel out of slavery in Egypt, the Lord decided to test His people in the wilderness. If they believed in Him, they would inherit the land He promised to their forefather Abraham.

The land symbolized God’s rest for Israel. Believing in Him would empower them to conquer their enemies and live abundant lives. Through their disbelief, Israel failed to enter the promised land and wandered for 40 years in the wilderness.

Losing Rest In The Garden

Before the fall, humanity could freely plant and produce food without much struggle or pain. Afterward, the Lord cursed the ground and hindered our ability to grow and harvest crops.

Although the world is still affected by this today, we can go to Jesus and experience joy and freedom in our work.

We Walk In Rest Through Obedience

For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed.
Hebrews 4:2

Obedience to God is an expression of our faith. It empowers us to inherit the best our God can offer while showing our love and admiration for Him.

David’s Fulfilling Life

In Psalms 119, David outlines every situation we endure in life and explains how following God allowed him to overcome them. The same commandments he applied as a young shepherd empowered him to rule over the kingdom of Israel.

These same commandments gave him the wisdom to rely on God in every situation and live a life of purpose and fulfillment.

Jesus Leads Us To Rest

Through the parable of the house, Jesus teaches us that following His words empowers us to overcome the struggles of life. Although storms may hinder our lives, we can stand because we rely on Him. With His help, there is nothing we cannot overcome.

Resting In God

God’s rest is one of the best experiences He offers. Through faith, we can believe in His son Jesus and the price he paid for our freedom. In obedience, we can follow His leadership and overcome our daily challenges.

By doing these two things, we can have a great life on earth and an everlasting relationship with the God we serve.
