Why You Need God’s Purpose?
As a believer, you must know God’s purpose for your life. Without it, you may pursue goals and opportunities that hinder your progress or fulfillment.
In this article, you’ll learn the three guiding principles for identifying His purpose for every area of your life.
Moses and the Burning Bush
6 Then he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.” At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.
7 The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering.
8 So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey—the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.
9 And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them.
10 So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.”

God’s Purpose Aligns With His Word
The Lord appears to Moses and proclaims He will free Israel from slavery in Egypt. Moses will go as His partner to deliver and establish them as a nation. Although this event appears to be random, this was a prophecy that spans 400 years.
Generations before, the Lord told Abraham in a dream that his descendants would be enslaved in an unknown land and He would one day free them.
Becoming A Pastor
Before becoming a pastor, I desired to serve others. I partnered with various community organizations and spoke regularly to kids and young adults about career success.
Although I went to church regularly, I never considered how I could get involved until my former pastor preached a sermon about the parable of talents.
He mentioned how we’ll use our God-given gifts to help people find success but not to draw people to Jesus. I was convicted and knew I could use my gifts for the Lord.
I met with him several weeks later to express my desire to serve. What happened after that was something I never expected. He asked if I ever considered becoming a minister.
At that moment, I knew he was hinting at something great. A few days before, a man approached me in the store and asked if I was a pastor.
Several weeks before, my pastor’s friend saw me at our men’s breakfast and assumed I was a minister. Considering these things, I told him I was unsure. He then referred me to the story of Gideon.
Lessons From Gideon
Israel was severely oppressed by the Midianites. After hearing their cries, the Lord searched for a man to free His people and reconcile the nation to Him.
This man was Gideon, and he doubted his ability to fulfill this assignment. After several trials, Gideon confidently pursued God’s purpose and freed the nation.
Gideon’s story aligned perfectly with my situation. Although Gideon was trying to serve, it wasn’t in the way or significance the Lord desired. This visitation placed him on a path of becoming a hero of war and our Faith.
The Lord was doing the same with me. His purpose was clear and it was my choice to accept or deny it.
God Will Reveal His Purpose
God’s purpose for our lives will always align with His Word. Although the method may differ, we can always trust that the Lord will reveal this purpose through the Bible, His Holy Spirit, and the people around us.
Action Step
What has God told you about your life? Reflect on them as you write and ask God for clarity in prayer.
![God’s Purpose Brings Peace](https://i0.wp.com/wisdominchrist.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Gods-Purpose-Brings-Peace.png?fit=1024%2C576&ssl=1)
God’s Purpose Brings Peace
Although Moses grew up in the Egyptian palace, he had strong ties to his people in slavery. He often advocated for them and one day slayed an Egyptian who was beating one of his brothers. After these events, Moses fled to Midian in exile where he lived for 40 years.
Although scripture doesn’t clarify this, Moses may have regretted his past. When the Lord appeared to Him for the assignment, He assured Moses that everyone seeking his life in Egypt had passed.
This gave him the confidence and peace to fulfill his purpose by bringing God’s people from slavery.
Peace With Pursuing Ministry
Despite knowing the Lord wanted me to become a pastor, I didn’t immediately accept the journey. I feared failing to teach His people properly and live a life dedicated to Him.
This went on for a year and because of my inaction, I began to feel sad and angered. Covid was sweeping across the US and people began leaving the church because they were hurt or complacent.
Many leaders believed that people would return after the pandemic ended. I knew this issue was great and resolved to solve the problem. With little experience, I launched a podcast several months later teaching people how to apply the Bible to their daily challenges.
It was hard at first but I continue making progress. I eventually developed the confidence to speak on video weekly to empower people in their faith. As a result, I found the peace to pursue this purpose and share the Lord with others.
You Will Develop Peace
When you begin pursuing God’s purpose, you will experience peace. You’ll also gain the motivation and confidence to fulfill the task and draw people to Him.
Action Step
Has God told you to do something you’re not currently doing? Write down how you can do those things in His timing.

God’s Purpose Produces Something Good
With the Lord’s help, Moses delivered God’s people and brought them to Mt. Sinai. The Lord established them as a nation here and declared He would allow them to live in the promised land – a place flowing with milk and honey, for generations.
This was the fulfillment of God’s promise to Abraham centuries before. Because of Moses’ efforts, Israel could receive this blessing and worship the Lord in freedom.
Bringing People To Christ
As I continued working on my podcast, the unexpected happened. People on social media and off shared how much my messages impacted them. I didn’t know if I was any good, but their encouragement reassured I was on the right path.
My knowledge of scripture grew and I enrolled in Bible School after a friend introduced me to a local Bishop. A year later, I was ordained as a Pastor.
Today I know lead Wisdom In Christ and Grow Your Ministry. Both ministries seek to grow and serve God’s people in an intimate way. Hundreds of people globally watch our content daily and express how their lives and relationship with God has grown.
